We are keen about space saving transformable furniture as most of us live in towns where the space is a big concern. Moscow based designer Elena Sidorova has came up with another beautiful transformable chair design called 'Flop Chair'. The Flop chair looks comfortable and spacious, and it can be easily turned into a functional twin bed. The best part is, all the guest bed paraphernalia (pillows, comforters, and sheets) can be stored right inside the chair.<br />

Belgian Red Bull athlete and nine time world trial bike champion Kenny Belaey recently grabbed a bronze medal at the UCI World Championship in Andorra – his 12th medal in 14 participations. <br>
Most certainly an achievement to be proud of, but nothing close to what he pulled off in the French Alps. <br>

After more than one year of preparation and six months of intensive training he succeeded in La Plagne, at an altitude of 2700 meters, to ride his bike over a 18m long slackline from one rock to another, over a 112m drop – proof of being perfectly in balance, not only resulting in spectacular footage, but also making a world first: Riding a highline on a bike.<br>

"This is the single most powerful device ever constructed (and subsequently responsible for the biggest nuclear explosion in history). Known as the Tsar Bomba, this Soviet designed nuclear weapon had a destructive power 10 times the combined force of all conventional explosives used in World War 2, and was 3000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima.<br>
<br>
Weighing 27 metric tuns, the Tsar Bomba was so heavy it needed a specially modified plane to carry it to the release sight.<br>
<br>
And it was on the 30th of October 1961 that the bomb was dropped from an altitude of 6.5 miles above a remote island in the Arctic Ocean.<br>

Because the nuclear device was so absurdly powerful, a parachute was deployed to slow its descent and allow the plane's crew time to escape from the blast. <br>
<br>
When the bomb was detonated it released an energy yield equivalent to 50 million tuns of TNT, and created a gigantic fireball that was visible from 500 miles away. The bomb completely destroyed everything within a 22 mile radius and damaged windows in Norway and Finland some thousands of miles away.<br>
<br>
Let's hope that such a ridiculously devastating nuclear event will never again take place.<br>

Fishing with Fire – A Mesmerizing Tradition of Taiwan

For hundreds of years, fishermen in Taiwan have been catching sardines with the help of fiery stick held over the edge of a boat. The fish are so attracted to the light that they jump out of the water and into the nets of the fishermen.<br>
<br>
Fire fishing is as simple as it is mesmerizing. Fishing boats head out to sea during the night, and light up a bamboo stick covered with sulfuric soil at one end to create a bright flame. The sulfur dissolves in the water and the gas produced then flashes with fire. Drawn to the light spectacle, sardines jump out of the water by the hundreds at a time and end up in the fishermen’s nets. Sulfuric fire fishing was developed during the period of Japanese Rule and is now practiced only in the Jinshan sulfur harbor.<br>

There were once over 300 boats practicing fire fishing in Taiwan, but according to the local fishermen’s association in Jinshan District, north of Taipei, that number has dwindled to just three. A six-hour fishing session under the night sky can yield between three and four tons of sardines per boat, and the Taiwanese government even subsidizes the practice. On a really good night, a team of fishermen can earn up to $4,500, so why is this fascinating tradition dying?<br>

Unfortunately, sardine season only lasts three months, from May to July, and despite government efforts to keep the tradition alive and promote it as a tourist attraction, young people don’t seem very impressed. The age of remaining fire fishermen averages at around 60 years old, and with no new blood in sight, the future of this fascinating tradition doesn’t look very bright.<br>

Zheng Zhi-ming, a professor of religious studies at Fu Jen Catholic University, says that using sulfuric fire to catch fish in the northeast region of Taiwan was common two or three decades ago, but the rapid improvement of fishing equipment combined with the exodus of youths from fishing villages have led to the decline of a tradition that was once considered one of the eight must-see attractions in Jinshan.<br>
